VAN HORN was founded as an artist space inviting international artists that hadn't been exhibited widely in Germany. Coming from this background a few years later the gallery was founded. In 2009 the gallery moved to a new and bigger location in Düsseldorf.
The gallery's main objective is to introduce and establish german artists to an international audience as well as to create attention for our international artists in Germany. Due to our location in Düsseldorf the contact to the art scene here and the Kunstakademie is especially close.
Regularly we are also showing historical positions or invite artists who are considered to be important in their special fields. Collaborations included R. Crumb, the estate of Rudolf Steiner, Russ Meyer, Cady Noland, WOLS, Reinhard Mucha and LeRoy Grannis. About once a year we invite artists, curators, collectors to curate a special exhibition in the gallery space. In 2011 Gregor Hildebrandt curated the exhibition "Arbeiten aus dem Bleistiftgebiet", in September 2012 Wilhelm Schürmann will curate an exhibition for the gallery.
